I am sure that a lot of merchants don't see things this way - they just don't think hard enough about their affiliates. A merchant that uses a link to his/her affiliate program on the sales page is using affiliate traffic as free traffic (whether they intend to or not). After all, the merchant does not need to spend time optimising pages or buying traffic - their affiliates will do that and send the traffic to the sales page for free. If an affiliate sends someone who becomes a customer, the merchant will make their money. The big problem here is that being an affiliate is hard work. You do have to create content, buy and review products, possibly even pay for advertising. If YOU are doing these things as an affiliate, is your merchant doing their bit to protect your you? Every year about 900 hunters are killed or injured in hunting accident. Dick Cheney, our Vice President just shot his Texas friend of thirty years in the neck and face. Many learn about guns in the military. They learn rifle range rules to keep from shooting the target monitors and each other. Most states have gun laws that require that youngsters take a gun class before they are allowed to hunt. That is a good idea.

Here are my rules: The Taylor Jones Rules for Hunting
1. Keep your firearm in good condition. That means to clean it and oil it after use and to check it occasionally while it is in storage. Remove any excess oil when you decide to use the firearm.
2. Store your firearm in a locked cabinet. Since you just cleaned it, it should not be loaded. Check to see if it is loaded. If it is, unload it.
3. Make sure the lock on your gun cabinet is of high quality and that it can not be picked or pried open. Keep the key on your key ring in your possession or in a secure place that others can not find. Remember that children are very clever and if they want to get into your gun cabinet, they will if you don’t monitor their activities.
4. When you retrieve your gun from the gun cabinet, what do you do first? You check to see if it is loaded. Someone could have gotten into your gun cabinet, loaded the gun, and then replaced it. Believe me, this does happen. When I was a kid, I made it happen.
5. Smell your gun when you first take it out of the gun cabinet. You will be able to tell if it has been fired. If you suspect it has been fired, look down the barrel once you know for sure the gun is not loaded. Now you will be able to tell if has been fired by the particles left behind by the bullet as it passed through the barrel. If the gun has been fired, find out who fired it and take proper action.
6. You should have a case for your gun. Place the unloaded rifle or shotgun or handgun in its case when not hunting or target shooting. Always have the gun in a case in your car. Some states require this.
7. When you arrive at the hunting scene, watch what others are doing. If they swing the barrel of their rifle or shotgun your way, warn them about it. Tell them what the safe hunting rules are then and there.
8. Never hunt with a klutz that does not know how to handle a firearm. Never hunt with anyone that drinks one drop of alcohol. My daughter had two games this weekend. Like every game before them -- it rained. Temperatures never got above 46 degrees unless you were lucky enough to spill coffee in your lap. I saw two four-year old girls selling shots of sambucca out of the back of their parent’s Suburban.
In spite of the inclement weather parents were there in force. This was an end of the season tournament and there were eleven fields, all of them filled with hard charging boys and girls and all of them lined with parents, siblings, spectators, coaches, assistant coaches, and the occasional European trainer, whose ubiquitous cries of “Unlucky!” or “Well done!” in English and Irish accents provided a little extra ambience in a “Tom Brown’s School Days” sort of way.
While my daughter warmed up in preparation of warming up for her game, I took a walk along the line of soccer fields, stopping occasionally to watch the games for a moment or two. The ages of the children varied, as did the gender and the level of skill but nonetheless a similar pattern emerged and along with it a revelation. Some adults are just plain nuts.

I tend to go for the combination of little things and the journal idea because it's much more meaningful and it's truly a gift that lasts and never gets old.
Oh and for other gift ideas you could buy him/her something they need for there house, an accessory for the computer, car, or whatever. You could take them to a concert or some sports event you know he/she would love to go to. Or you can take them on a shopping spree and have him/her pick out whatever he/she would want.
I like the accessories for there computer or there car. I really think that is the way to go. You could go even further by making it look cute. You said you guys have only been together for a couple of weeks, so I think you should save the enhancing techniques till later on in your relationship. They are much funnier and even more appreciated then. But besides that I think the accessory for there computer or car would definitely be good. The odds are you don't know yet which ones he needs. Something easy and cheap to make and which all my friends are addicted to right now is Brazilian chocolate and all you need is cocoa powder, sweetened milk, and butter. Your boyfriend/girlfriend would probably love it if you took the time to actually make them chocolate or some other type of food or candy.
